I think that its the same case as kate not letter herself believe anything but what she wants to hear. He is having the same problem with the idea of the man who made him the person he is today being guilty for such a heinous crime towards something that chris lived and fought for. He repressed the very thought of his father being a guilty man.

I think deep down she knew but she was in a deep depression and denial because she can not except the fact that he died. She refuses to let her self believe that he is dead. It seems at first she is not really that bad about it but as the story progresses she seems to get worse and worse and crazier about the whole subject.

Beatrice

She will end up all alone and full of pride and anger. She is a very sadistic women and she deserves a lot of bad things to happen to her. Her daughters will probably do whatever they can to get away from her and any thing that has to do with her. It takes one sick person to kill their daughters rabbit and to treat an elderly women that way. Everyone around her will disappear and she will have nothing and no one to be with at the end of her life if she keeps doing the way she's doing. I think she is truly evil for the way she has acted and her attitude towards everyone.
